Director, Scott Blankenbaker!
Scott Blankenbaker has taught voice in MacPhail’s Individual Instruction program since 2015. He has 20 years’ experience teaching at colleges and universities, and has taught private lessons since 1991.
Scott believes that singing is the most personal and intimate form of musical expression. His role is to assist students in discovering and developing their skills and understanding of voice usage as well as their emotional and musical expression.
An active member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) since 1995, several of his students place as finalists in state and regional competitions, including two students who have advanced to the national level of the NATS Musical Theatre competition. He has served as music director for some 30 musical theatre shows and have directed dozens of concerts, revues, and other performances. He has presented solo recitals, sung with symphony orchestras, and is an active adjudicator, clinician, and church musician.
Scott holds a B.A. in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education from University of Nebraska at Kearney, and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Kansas State University. He has also pursued additional graduate study at the University of Minnesota.
